Institute Innovation Council (IIC)

"Innovation involves transforming ideas into enhancements in how tasks are performed, adapting to the resources at hand, and seeking guidance from those with greater experience in our vicinity."

1. Introduction

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has established ‘MHRD’s Innovation Cell (MIC)’ to systematically foster the culture of Innovation amongst all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The primary mandate of MIC is to encourage, inspire and nurture young students by supporting them to work with new ideas and transform them into prototypes while they are informative years. MIC has envisioned encouraging creation of ‘Institution’s Innovation Council (IICs)’ across selected HEIs. A network of these IICs will be established to promote innovation in the Institution through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system in the campuses.

Career Point University, Kota has established an Institution Innovation Council (IIC) during the calendar year 2019-20 as per the norms of MHRD’s Innovation Cell, Government of India.

CPUR Innovation Cell is designed to connect individuals, ideas, expertise, and resources to inspire innovation within the university community. This initiative supports the development of students’ ideas and encourages the submission of entrepreneurial proposals. Moreover, the Innovation Cell may assist in securing funding for these projects. Innovations within Career Point University have become a cornerstone of progress, shaping not only academia but also impacting broader society. One notable area of innovation lies in research methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our university is increasingly breaking down traditional departmental barriers, fostering collaborations between diverse fields such as engineering, physics, biology, mathematics, computer science, pharmacy, chemistry, agriculture, phototherapy, psychology, and sociology. This interdisciplinary approach fosters innovation by encouraging fresh perspectives and facilitating the convergence of ideas from different disciplines.

Moreover, Career Point University is embracing emerging technologies to enhance learning experiences. Education is an ongoing journey, offering endless opportunities for enhancing the current systems we operate within. By leveraging resources such as workshops, labs, libraries (both physical and digital), internet connectivity, intranet resources, and research facilities provided by the institute, innovative concepts can be brought to fruition and existing systems can be refined.

3. Journey of IIC established at the Institute

The primary objective of this Cell is to foster creativity by generating innovative design concepts across different engineering disciplines with an emphasis on aesthetics. The Innovation Cell aims to support students and inspire young, gifted individuals by offering a platform to showcase their talents, collaborate in teams, and engage in various competitions. Additionally, it will provide students with an opportunity to excel in their chosen areas of specialization.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) was established at our institute in Session 2020-21 with a vision to cultivate a vibrant innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. Launched under the guidance of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, the council began with a small yet passionate team of faculty and students dedicated to driving creativity across disciplines. The journey started with awareness programs, workshops, and ideation sessions aimed at nurturing the innovative spirit among students.

Over time, the IIC expanded its activities, organizing hackathons, innovation contests, and industry-academia interaction events. Collaborations with start-ups and experienced entrepreneurs provided mentorship opportunities, while faculty-led research inspired students to engage in interdisciplinary problem-solving.

The council’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial mind-sets resulted in notable achievements, including student start-ups, research projects addressing real-world issues, and recognitions at national innovation platforms.
