Career Point University Hosts Brainstorming Session on Millets

On June 19, 2024, the School of Agricultural Sciences at Career Point University, Kota, organized a Brainstorming Session titled “Taking Forward Millets to the Next Decade.” This event, held in collaboration with the India Millets Initiative and the Indo-US Millets Initiative, USA, aimed to promote millet cultivation and consumption as part of the International Decade of Millets (IDoM).

Key Highlights

  • Welcome Address: Prof. Sumer Singh, Vice Chancellor, Career Point University.
  • Chief Guest: Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member of NITI Aayog, highlighted the importance of increasing millet consumption and diversifying food production.
  • Special Guests: Dr. J. S. Sandhu and Dr. Ashok S. Alur discussed initiatives to promote millets in educational institutions and the Public Distribution System.
  • Contributors: Dr. Stayen Yadav and Dr. Muralidharan Sheshadri presented the national and Rajasthan Chapter roadmaps for IDoM.

Participation

Over 250 academicians, scientists, and students from various agricultural universities and institutions across India participated in the session. The event was coordinated by Dr. Maina Kumari and Dr. Narendra Kumar Bhinda, concluding successfully with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gunnjeet Kaur, Associate Dean, School of Agricultural Sciences, Career Point University.
