Introduction: Education Beyond Classrooms
Education becomes meaningful when it nurtures both intellect and emotions. At Career Point University (CPU), Kota, learning goes beyond textbooks to shape compassionate, responsible, and socially aware individuals. The university actively encourages students to engage in community initiatives that build character along with knowledge.
Carrying forward this vision, the Music Club of Career Point University, Kota organized a special outreach program titled “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara – Intergenerational Musical Interaction with Senior Citizens” on 7 February 2026. The event was held at Shri Karani Nagar Vikas Samiti and Shraddha Bhawan old age homes on Jhalawar Main Road, Kota. The initiative brought together students and senior citizens through the universal language of music, creating moments of joy and connection.
Purpose of the Initiative
The program was designed to strengthen emotional bonds between young students and elderly residents. In many old age homes, senior citizens often experience loneliness and limited social interaction. Understanding this, CPU students aimed to bring warmth, companionship, and positivity into their day through music and interaction.
At the same time, the initiative helped students develop empathy, respect for elders, and a sense of social responsibility. It promoted intergenerational harmony and cultural exchange, reminding everyone that learning also happens through human connections.
A Musical Experience Filled with Joy
The event began with a welcome address and introduction by faculty coordinators, setting a warm and respectful tone. Students then presented group songs, devotional music, and solo performances. Their melodious voices created a cheerful and lively environment that immediately engaged the audience.
The most heart-touching part was the sing-along session where senior citizens joined students in singing familiar songs. Many residents clapped along, smiled, and even shared the memories associated with those melodies. Music truly became a bridge connecting generations and emotions.
Heartfelt Interactions and Bonding
Beyond the performances, students spent time interacting personally with the elderly residents. They listened to life stories, experiences, and words of wisdom shared by the seniors. These conversations created a sense of belonging and mutual respect.
For many senior citizens, the visit was a refreshing break from routine. It reminded them that they are valued and remembered. For students, it was a meaningful lesson in kindness and humanity that cannot be learned in classrooms alone.
Learning That Shapes Character
Such outreach programs play a vital role in student development. Participants gained real-life lessons in empathy, communication, and emotional intelligence. They learned the importance of community service and developed a deeper understanding of social needs.
Experiences like these help students grow into well-rounded individuals who value relationships, culture, and social contribution alongside professional success.
