16 July’25 Kota, Rajasthan, Career Point University takes pride in announcing the latest research achievement from the School of Agricultural Sciences. Ms. Priya Meena, a student of the M.Sc. Horticulture program has successfully published a peer-reviewed research paper titled “Influence of Mulching and Fertigation on Morphological and Quality Attributes of Strawberry” in the Asian Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition.
This research focuses on enhancing strawberry cultivation practices using innovative techniques of mulching and fertigation. The findings contribute valuable insights into sustainable agriculture and high-efficiency horticultural practices, particularly in the context of Rajasthan’s agro-climatic conditions.
About the Research Publication
Conducted as part of her M.Sc. dissertation, Priya Meena’s study examined the effects of four types of mulch and three levels of fertigation on the growth, quality, and yield of strawberry plants (Fragaria × ananassa Duch. cv. Winter Dawn).
Key findings from the research include:
- Enhanced plant height, spread, fruit size, and sugar content under black polythene mulching with 100% RDF fertigation.
- Improved fruit quality parameters, such as vitamin C, juice content, and anthocyanin levels critical for both nutritional value and market appeal.
- Recommendations for optimal practices that increase productivity while conserving resources.
The research reflects the growing importance of precision horticulture and supports a move toward climate-resilient farming practices.
