Natural Farming Mission 2024: Training Farmers & Students in Sustainable Practices

In a commendable effort to promote sustainable agriculture, the School of Agricultural Sciences (SOAS), Career Point University, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Kota Division, successfully conducted a two-day farmer training program for farmers from Kasar and Alaniya villages.

Aligned with Natural Farming Mission 2024 and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, the training empowered over 30 farmers and 122 students with eco-friendly farming techniques, while also giving students of the Agricultural Extension Education Course practical exposure in technology transfer (TOT).

Key Highlights of the Training

  • Dr. Atish Kumar Sharma, Joint Director, Agriculture Extension Office, Kota, emphasized the correct use of fertilizers.
  • Mr. Sabarwal, Master Trainer of Natural Farming, guided participants on sustainable plastic usage.
  • Dr. Vineet Dheer, Assistant Professor, Agronomy, shared insights on the Principles of Natural Farming and preparation methods for Jeevamrit and Beejamrit.
  • Mr. Rohitashv Nagar, Assistant Professor, Agronomy, explained techniques for Water Conservation in Agriculture, including mulching, in-situ, and ex-situ conservation methods.
  • Dr. Manish Kumar, Department of Horticulture, presented natural farming practices for flower crops, highlighting improvements in flower quality, fragrance, and market value, along with details of various funding agencies.
  • Dr. Ratnakar Pathak, Department of Entomology, elaborated on the Role of Bio-pesticides in Insect Pest Management, covering the preparation of Astar, Dasstar Pan, Neemastra, Brahmastra, Agniastra, and Dashparni Ark.

Adding a creative touch, students performed an awareness skit on natural farming, effectively engaging the audience and spreading awareness about sustainable agricultural practices.

Driving Sustainable Change with SOAS

Guided by the mission of the School of Agricultural Sciences (SOAS), Career Point University, the program went beyond theory and textbooks. It served as a platform where farmers gained practical tools for natural farming, and students experienced first-hand the value of working closely with communities. This blend of learning and outreach underscores SOAS’s commitment to preparing students as catalysts for sustainable change in agriculture.

The event concluded successfully under the guidance of Mrs. Ruchi Verma, Training Director, ATMA Kota, and the coordination of Mr. Rohitashv Nagar, Assistant Professor, Department of Agronomy, along with the dedicated SOAS team, Career Point University. The initiative left farmers motivated, students enriched with knowledge, and the community stronger in its journey toward sustainable, chemical-free, and environmentally responsible farming practices.
