Rules and Regulations of the Library

The following is circulation limits for different categories of users:

Faculty 4 15
Students 2 7
Research Scholars 3 10
Non Teaching Staff 1 10

In case of loss/damage of books borrowed by a user; the borrower shall have to replace the book with its latest edition. If the replacement is not done within 15 days, the defaulter will be charged as follows:-

(a)   Two times the cost of the book, if the book is in print with fine.

(b)  Three times the cost of the book, if the book is out of print with fine.

(c)  If the book of a multi-volume set is lost, the member concerned shall have to replace the whole set or pay the cost of the same as per class 15.

LIBRARY FAQs

How do I become a member of the Library?

CPU faculty, students, and staff are bona-fide members and no other formality is required. As soon as you get your ID Card, please visit the library once to activate your membership.

How do I search books in Catalog (OPAC)?
  • Go to the library home page. There is a search box with the caption “Search Catalog (OPAC)”. Enter a word or words from the title or subject or author of a book you like to search. Press enter. It will list all books matching the words you input.

  • You can restrict your search to a particular media like Books, E-Books.

  • In Advanced Search, you can search books by combining several fields like author, title.

What is “OPAC”?

OPAC stands for Online Public Access Catalog. This is a database of all books, reference books, e-books, theses, reports, patents, standards etc. available in the library. It enables speedy searching of a particular book, books on a given subject, and/or a book by an author.

How do I know what e-books are available / accessible to CPU users?

Go to the library home page. Click E-Journals/E-Books, again click E-Books from the sub-menu. The system will list all the e-books available.

How do I borrow books?

Go to the library, pick up the books you like to borrow, carry these books to the Circulation Counter. Show your ID Card. The library staff will assist you in getting these books issued to you.
